Performing arts education in Charlotte is available from several universities. Queens University of Charlotte and Pfeiffer University offer undergraduate music degrees. The University of North Carolina provides programs in all three major performing arts disciplines: theatre, dance and music, with particular emphasis on education programs.
The musician and singer sector is expected to gain 20 new positions by 2010 while the acting sector is set to gain 15. Dancers should gain the most, with 28 positions. It should be noted that these figures do not include part-time or freelance employment, nor do they predict the number of positions that might become available when existing performers relinquish them.
